Cynthia Lacsamana

Hi there! If you or your student are looking for expert support in science, I bring 25 years of classroom teaching experience and a nationally and locally recognized background to my one-on-one tutoring. Specializing in AP Biology, Environmental Science, Biology and OpenSciEd curricula, I help students bridge the gap between memorizing facts and truly understanding how science works.

Over my career, I’ve been honored to be named a State of Michigan Teacher of the Year Nominee (2021), receive the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award (2011), and twice be recognized as High School Teacher of the Year by the Birmingham Education Association (2013, 2021).

Whether your teen is aiming for a top score on their AP exam, trying to boost their grade in general biology, or needing a confidence boost with hands-on inquiry, my sessions are tailored to fit their unique learning style. Together, we will build strong study habits, conquer challenging concepts, and make science click—turning frustration into academic success and curiosity. Let’s work together to help your student thrive!
