Getting Started

1) Verification Process

All new Barn Owls will be verified through their current or previous schools of employment and/or through the state government.

Requirements:

• Must be currently teaching or retired from the teaching profession

• Must have a minimum of 20 years of teaching experience

• If retired, must have a clean background record

2) Start-Up Fee

There is a $100 start-up fee.

This fee covers:

• Professional verification

• A Barn Owl company shirt (to be worn in your profile photo submission)

• A $20 gift card sent to any previous Barn Owl who referred you to the Nest

• Complete setup of your tutoring profile on the BBOT website

• Your first 4 months of the service.

3) Subscription Renewal

Your subscription renewal begins at the end of your initial four-month period.

• Renewal cost: $50 every four months to remain active on the site

• You may cancel at any time

• If you choose to rejoin after canceling, there will be a $75 reactivation fee

What You Receive

• A live, active profile on the BBOT website

• Direct selection by parents seeking a tutor for their child

• Parent contact information sent to you (after the parent pays the connection fee), including details about their child’s needs

Your Responsibilities as a Barn Owl

1. Contact the parent within 48 hours of receiving their information

2. Schedule the student’s first tutoring session promptly

3. Provide $25 off the first session (pre-arranged promotion)

4. Notify us if you need to toggle your availability to “not available.”

   • If a parent has already paid a connection fee, you are expected to accommodate the referral.

5. Manage all parent and student interactions independently from that point forward

6. Agree to promote BBOT and use BBOT for all future tutoring connections. All Barn Owls will be given a digital link and promotion of their personal connection to share.
